The Problem
Software in a manufacturing business has to work across design, production, logistics, and the people responsible for each. Improving one component in isolation can leave the overall operation just as difficult to run.
My Role
At Stykka, I led software engineering, production tooling, and design automation during a critical operating phase. I built and managed a multidisciplinary team while staying responsible for architecture and key implementation decisions.
The Work
The work joined technical direction with practical delivery: backend services, browser applications, desktop plugins, cloud infrastructure, and integrations with manufacturing and logistics.
I helped migrate tightly coupled Elixir and C# systems toward modular Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud services while maintaining live operations. Alongside that transition, I established delivery and reliability practices, including CI/CD, containerisation, and access controls.
What It Shows
A leadership role can stay close to the implementation. Here, setting direction meant understanding both the software boundaries and the production workflows they served, then helping a team make changes that the operating business could absorb.
